We are pleased to invite you to our monthly eCooking Community of Practice dialogue session on “Enhancing eCooking Adoption through Digital engagement”. This virtual webinar scheduled for 4th December 2024 from 11 am (EAT) is co-organized by Gamos East Africa (GAMEA), Kenya Power (KPLC), Clean Cooking Association of Kenya (CCAK), and African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS), and supported by the Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS) Programme.

eCooking Digital Engagement is a study done under the eCooking Capacity Building & Market Development programme (eCAP) which was implemented by Kenya Power in Collaboration with the Modern Energy Cooking Services Programme (MECS) working under the United Kingdom Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions (UK PACT) programme to accelerate the uptake of electric cooking (eCooking) in Kenya, the work was also co-funded by Integrate 2 Zero. 

The primary goal of this project was to challenge the common misconceptions about electric cooking and position it as an aspirational, practical solution for everyday Kenyan cooks. This was done through a multi-platform engagement strategy involving food bloggers and home cooks. Kisambara Ventures Limited partnered with popular food bloggers, Leo Tunapika and Cooking with Nimoh, leveraging their platforms to showcase eCooking as a desirable and modern kitchen solution.
In this session, Ms. Agnes Kalyonge, Founder of Jikoni Magic and CEO of Kisambara Ventures, and Ms. Okova Sophy, Communication Specialist at Kenya Power, will share valuable insights from the project. They will discuss how social media engagement has accelerated eCooking adoption and reshaped public perceptions of cooking with electricity. Additionally, Ms. Okova will present a preview of the new Pika na Power website, designed to further support this transformative shift.
