About the Event
We are excited to invite you to our 1st monthly eCooking Community of Practice dialogue session this year, titled “Kitchen Energy Audits for eCooking Transitions”. This virtual webinar will take place on 12th February 2025 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm (EAT). This session is co-organized by Gamos East Africa (GAMEA), Kenya Power (KPLC), Clean Cooking Association of Kenya (CCAK), and African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS), and supported by the Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS) Programme.
As the world makes progressive steps towards affordable and clean energy inline with SDG7, energy auditing is increasingly becoming an important for households to not only understand their energy consumption habits but also explore ways of reducing costs and emissions.
SCODE was commissioned by the MECS Programme under the eCooking Capacity Building & Market Development programme (eCAP) to develop kitchen energy audit data collection and analysis tools for households. This initiative was implemented by Kenya Power in collaboration with MECS and funded through the the United Kingdom Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions (UK PACT) programme, was also co-funded by Integrate 2 Zero. The project aimed to assess household readiness for electric cooking (eCooking) and provide key insights to households and stakeholders on the costs and benefits of transitioning to clean cooking through electricity.
During this session, Ms. Mercy Kamau, a dedicated energy and technology professional with extensive expertise in renewable energy and electrical systems from SCODE will be sharing insights from this study.
