The eCooking Community of Practice (CoP) Webinar on “Data-Driven eCooking: Insights from Smart-Metered Electric Pressure Cookers for Domestic Use.” This virtual session took place on Tuesday, 4th November, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (EAT).
The webinar was co-organized by Gamos East Africa (GAMEA), Kenya Power (KPLC), the Clean Cooking Association of Kenya (CCAK), and the African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS), with support from the Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS) Programme.
The goal of this session was to explore the viability of using IoT-enabled smart plugs to monitor electric pressure cooker (EPC) usage in Kenya. To set the scene, Ms. Nora Bergin and Mr. Paul Conroy from 4R Digital presented findings from their recent study on Smart Metered Electric Pressure Cookers (EPCs) for Domestic Use . The report offers timely insights for the eCooking community on how IoT-enabled monitoring can inform and accelerate clean cooking transitions.
This was followed by a panel discussion featuring four additional speakers:
They shared their experiences, perspectives, and expertise as IoT providers, users, and researchers which enriched the discussion as we work to enhance data-driven approaches for accelerating eCooking adoption in Kenya.
