Kenya faces a critical shortage of qualified professionals in the renewable energy sector, with only 837 licensed solar technicians nationwide. nearly half of whom are concentrated in Nairobi. This gap is even more pronounced in our two pilot counties Machakos & Makueni, where a population of over 2 million is served by only 7 licensed technicians.

​To bridge this divide, the Strathmore team & Evonet Energy Ltd has developed Sunsafe, an innovative digital solution designed to professionalize and scale the sector. Sunsafe is a dedicated app for technicians which helps users with system sizing and compatibility, ensuring every installation is accurately sized & safe.

Beyond technical design, Sunsafe serves as a trusted marketplace connecting households and small businesses to a verified network of trained, vetted & licenced professionals. To ensure this transition is equitable, Gamos East Africa is providing strategic support to fully integrate Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) principles across all project actions, ensuring that the benefits of this innovation reach every segments of the community.
